The county commissioners again upheld the desires of both Whitestown town and surrounding area residents by denying the Cobblestone Development rezoning request for the Clark property located to the south of Whitestown. In a surprise move attorney for the property owner Jeff Jacobs submitted a request to withdraw the request for rezoning. Mr. Jacobs sited the fustration of the developers in their dealings with Whitestown as to commitments as the primary reason and did not want to see the Clarks future options limited Official Meeting Minutes
I have tried in this new format not to throw my two cents in, but I just want to express some thoughts, for my fellow residents who could not attend the countless meetings. I can only hope Mr. Misrach and Mr. Daffin can sympathize as much with us as we do with them. We too showed up to many meetings blind and had to rely on only our gut feelings. They had a viable project to bring to Whitestown, one in which if they had known the desires, wishes, and requirements of the town council and residents up front, may have allowed them to proceed with the development in a timely and more efficient manner. They simply ran out of time to work with the town and understand their requirements. I for one hope they will entertain the idea of future development in Whitestown, I said many times in public meetings, ( in which they comuted from Cincinnati to attend and brought Mr. Clark ) they were the first to come before the town and present their case and listen to what residents had say. They put a great deal of effort into discussions with the town. I am also disappointed that a common ground could be reached in a reasonable timeframe. In order to bring this class of developer to Whitestown in the future, the town board must follow thru on the commits to adopt a comprehensive plan, updated zoning ordinances, sub-division control ordinances, and building standards. This along with a set of boiler plate commitments as produced in 11th hour to Misrach/Daffin will go a long way in satisfing the future appearence of Whitestown in the development community. I do not believe any of us have doubts, Whitestown will be developed. It is the when, where, how, and by whom it will be built that we need to be concerned with! |
