Whitestown BLOG on the Lebanon Reporter Site
Oct 24, 2006
I just learned of this running Blog, I guess I am a little disappointed that so many say they live in Whitestown and have no clue what is going on. Who's fault is that?
If your listening to certain individuals or the rumor mill you can be missled. Come to the meetings and ask the questions. I do not promise that you will either get answers or like the ones you do get, but at least you can educate yourself on the facts and be prepared for the elections next year.
Editorial Note: I have not participated in this to date, but that is most likely going to change. I have always planned on starting a BLOG on this site, but with my limited time it has not been setup. It is hard enough for me to just keep up with current events :)

County extends hand of cooperation
Oct 3, 2006
While the Whitestown Town Council prepares to enter into litigation against Boone County over the recently approved Economic Development Area (EDA), the county extended a gesture of good will. Olive branch letter from the county
I see this as an opportunity for Whitestown to demonstrate that it is growing up and is willing to move forward in a spirit of cooperation with surrounding legislative bodies. To move forward with litigation will in my opinion send a message that Whitestown does not care and can not work well with others.
With all the current bad press (whether right or wrong), I see this as a chance to get some good press by confirming the Boone County olive branch.

Editorial Comment: I have been riding the fence on the EDA issue. First opposing the idea at the Area Planning Commission and then supporting it at the Boone County Redevelopment Commission. My reasoning is this, at first I saw it as a way for the county to control Whitestown's rights to grow. Most would openly admit that if this was Lebanon or Zionsville pursuing the same annexation efforts it would not be an issue. Both have demonstrated to their citizens and the county a concerted effort for responsible growth. Most Whitestown residents and surrounding residents do not have that same comfort level with the Whitestown management. After many discussions with county representatives and residents in the effected area I learned that the intent is not to stop Whitestown from growing, but to try and ensure the residents which surround the growth area are also properly represented and can exercise an opinion in public with their concerns that they are being heard.

The question then is why would Whitestown not want this? Who in Whitestown has become so arrogant that they think they can do what ever they like with complete disregard for the lives of the county residents they affect?

They have demonstrated this, by presenting remonstration (a right they strip from anyone wanting to connect to the Whitestown Utility) with letters of agreement they have signed with developers. I can not find a record of these letters where they had been discussed or approved in a public Whitestown Town Council meeting. I have requested these, but have not been able to obtain copies via the town. The copies I have viewed are on record with the county.
Remonistration against the County EDA. Obtained Friday 10-6-2006

Whitestown needs more citizens to step up
March 27, 2006
Whitestown needs volunteers to fill vital positions. Currently the Whitestown Board of Zoning Appeals is in search of a member from the southwest side of Whitestown. With the recently adopted Zoning and building standards, this board will be essential in maintaining the towns vision of responsible growth.

A newly established Information Technology committee is also looking for a third member. Anyone interested in becoming involved in an ever going community, please email the site host hostwhitestown@tds.net or contact the Whitestown town clerks office
This committee is responsible for reviewing, recommending and approving future Information Technology expenditures to the Whitestown town council.

No more parking at L.A. Cafe for town council meetings.
March 27, 2006
The L.A. Cafe has changed to opening seven (7) days a week and asked that citizens and other others attending official Whitestown town council meetings not to park in their parking spaces. We have requested the town council to provide information as to safe parking for meeting attendees. There is no legal parking with twenty feet (20') of any stop signs or on Pierce and Linville Avenues. With the upcoming closure of 650 E. we can only assume the lack of parking in Whitestown to become a much larger issue. I for one would ask that L.A. Cafe customers not park along Main St., especially on town meeting nights.
Whitestown.org looking for contributors
March 27, 2006
This web site could use more Whitestown citizen input and assistance to grow and provide more up to date information to our fellow town citizens. Currently I am not able to produce the newsletter section or keep up with all the issues facing the town. I welcome any input or assistance my fellow town members could offer. We would like to see both positive and negative items for consideration.

Have a junk car sitting around
March 27, 2006
It has recently come to our attention that a local Boone County company is paying cash for junk cars. If your interested in getting rid of that old piece of junk and just did not know what to do with it, check them out. I have no experience with anyone associated with this company, so your on your own in dealing with them.
