A popular government, without popular information, or the means of acquiring it, is but a prologue to a farce, or a tragedy; or, perhaps both. Knowledge will forever govern ignorance; and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives.
James Madison Fourth U.S. President

My humble apologies for taking some time away, but I will try to do better. This site is way out of date, I was assisting in getting the Official Whitestown In Government site up and online. Progress comes in baby steps and our town has gone through a re-birth. I attended my first town council meeting in some time tonight. We have come a long way since this site came online, but we have so far to go.

I was hoping that another citizen and I were not the only one's digitally recording meetings, but I noticed that the Clerk is still using analog to record meetings. Hmmm. Since I started digital voice recording over three years ago, it begs the question why?

I was amazed at the small number of citizens at the meeting, when I asked one town council member the response was we took care of the water quality issues and now they have no interest in the town. A couple of questions for the public. I have received and even heard in the meeting complaints on traffic issues in Eagles Nest, but not one Eagles Nest resident put their name in the hat for open Board/Commission positions? It is an election year and many of the the current council members have stated they are not re-running. So why is there not more interest in getting educated on the town and running for office?

I have promised myself that I will not beat up any of the current elected officials(most have done a lot at their own personal sacrifice on our behalf), but that my current goal is to provide information to the public and get more residents educated and invovled.

As a next step forward I have added a feature I never attempted before. I recorded and published a meeting on YouTube the same night. I am not pleased with the outcome on YouTube, but it is a learning curve.

Note Update: I have found that YouTube works on trust, so kind of like a bank. They limit the length of video until you gain their trust.

So for now you only get the first 10 mins. Still working on it.

I am proud of our town and what transpired this evening Jan 18,2011. Whitestown In. has taken one more step in controlling its own destiny. This opinion has no reflection on the Boone County Area Planning commision which served us so well over the years, but it was time for us to have more say in our future.

Standing up of the Whitestown Planning Commision on You Tube Sorry for some of the quality issues. Still trying to find the happy medium between quality and publication.

See for yourself; I learned that to upload files over 2G there is a different process. Working on it as we type. See take 2 when available.
